West Orange, New Jersey – American Mini Splits, a leading seller, designer, manufacturer, and installer of ductless mini-split cooling and heating systems announced at the AHR Show in New York today, the roll-out of its innovative new design for the solar ductless mini-split.
The photovoltaic solar mini-split was the new concept developed by American Mini Splits Inc. President and CEO, Douglas A. Sandlaufer. Sandlaufer stated, “The future of America is in renewable energy and energy independence. This product is an entry-level appliance to get the regular home owner into the solar marketplace.”
The working principal behind this pioneering technology is the use of the photovoltaic panel to create DC electricity to run the unit. When the unit is not running, the PV panel still generates electricity which is sold back to the electrical grid in many states and countries. Moreover, the system saves up to 50% (for the standard solar mini splits) in electric costs over conventional inverter mini-splits.
Sandlaufer has more than 30 years experience in the heating and cooling industry, beginning when he was a teenager working in his father’s Jersey City, New Jersey home heating oil business. He recalls cleaning boilers in the basements of the city’s old homes from the time he was fifteen. During the 1980s Sandlaufer created his own heating oil company, Municipal Energy, which was an innovator in the industry as the first company to give discounted prices for customers who paid cash on delivery. Sandlaufer also developed and sold high-speed flame-retention oil burners, now the industry standard.
Now, Sandlaufer continues his industry innovation with numerous new mini-split systems, including Solar Splits, 13SEER,15SEER and 18 Seer systems which are efficient enough to obtain rebates from various utility programs.
Most importantly, Sandlaufer bucks the trend of secrecy in pricing equipment and regularly publishes the non-negotiable prices on his website, his business cards, and his signage. Sandlaufer says, “Don’t we all get tired of the rip-off, not knowing what something is really going to cost you? We just want to take the guess-work out of the pricing, so everyone can plan, be it someone purchasing one unit for their home, or five containers for their supply house.”
